Ten energy-saving tips for the car
Petrol prices are rising. (Re-)act now! Making fuel savings means less greenhouse gas and a climate which degenerates less quickly. If you follow this advice, you will save up to five full tanks per year.
- 1 - Adopt a flexible and smooth style of driving: aggressive city driving increases fuel consumption by 40% which is 4€ wasted for every 100km.
- 2 - Avoid going too fast. Roads are not a race course! This way you can save up to 20% of fuel.
- 3 - Decrease your speed by 10km/h on motorways. Das ist gut für Ihre Sicherheit und Sie sparen 7 € bei einer Strecke von 500 km.
- 4 - Limit short urban journeys. Whenever possible, take public transport, cycle or walk.
- 5 - Maintain your vehicle. It is dangerous to drive with the tyres under-inflated, and it uses more fuel.
- 6 - Do not use air conditioning excessively. This makes a saving of up to 4€ per 100km.
- 7 - Use the equipment which enables you to more easily control your consumption: fuel gauge, regulator/limiter, navigation system and traffic info.
- 8 - Remember to remove the roof rack: even empty, it means 10% higher consumption.
- 9 - Economical vehicles are appearing on the market, bear this in mind for your next car.
